Michael joined scouting as a Cub Scout
with Pack 85/88 in Mesquite, Texas. While there, he earned his
Bobcat, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos ranks and his Arrow of Light
Award. He then crossed over to Troop 67.
Since joining the troop, he has
served as Patrol Leader, Asst. Patrol Leader, Quartermaster,
Historian, and Troop Guide. He has attended leadership training
which includes: Junior Leadership Training, Oak Leaf Skills, and
Golden Acorn. Michael has also served as training staff at Oak
Leaf and at Golden Acorn. He has also staffed Cub Twilight Camp
for two years.
Michael has attended four summer
camps, three of which were at Tom Hale Scout Reservation in
Oklahoma, and one at Camp Pioneer in Arkansas. He has also
attended three winter camps, one at Cherokee Scout Ranch, one at
Sid Richardson Scout Ranch, and one at Camp Urland.
Michael has participated in a high
adventure camp at Florida’s Sea Base. He has earned 68 merit
badges and is continuing to earn more. He has over 275 service
hours and over 100 nights camping. He received a Bronze, Silver
and Gold Presidential Award for Service, and has earned his God
and Country.
Michael was elected by his peers
into the Order of the Arrow and is an active member of this
scouting service organization. He has received his brotherhood
membership in the Ogequah Chapter of the Mikanakawa Lodge.
For his Eagle project, Michael
planned and directed a collection of requested items and
building of care packages that were sent to soldiers in Iraq. He
utilized 37 volunteers and over 170 service hours in his
project.
Michael earned his rank of Eagle
Scout on August 14, 2006 and plans on remaining active with his
troop, crew, and chapter while earning his Eagle Palms and
helping others to reach the Summit.
Troop 67 is very proud of Michael’s
