Daniel Garrett Rudd, 18, is a senior
at North Mesquite High School where he is a member of the
varsity cross country and track teams. He became an Eagle
February 20, 2006. Daniel joined Cub Scouts as a second grader,
advancing through all the ranks with Pack 93. He was among the
first members of the pack. Troop 67 was newly chartered when he
crossed over to Boy Scouts, and remained his scout home as he
advanced through the ranks to earn Scouting's highest award.
Over the past 11 years, Daniel has earned many awards and
participated in numerous activities, projects, and fund raisers.
Those include Scouting for Food, Scout Show and Scout Show
ticket sales, Buddy Poppy sales, and popcorn sales.
Daniel's Eagle Service Project included
the relocation of the playground at Northside Baptist Church, as
well as the construction of a new play structure from the ground
up. He supervised the removal, cleanup, and relocation of a
slide and jungle gym; and the demolition and removal of an old,
unsafe structure. His project included the addition of a
concrete slab at the base of the patio steps where erosion had
resulted in a dangerous step. More than 30 volunteers
contributed 200 hours to the project.
In his troop, Daniel has served as
Quartermaster, Patrol Leader, two terms as Assistant Patrol
Leader, two terms as Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, two terms
as Scribe, and three terms as Troop Guide. He has attended
summer camps at Camp Cherokee near Athens, twice at Tom Hale
Scout Reserve in Oklahoma, a high-adventure camp at Ben Delatour
Scout Ranch in Colorado, and on horseback cavalcade at New
Mexico's Philmont Scout Ranch. Daniel also volunteered to staff
Cub Scout Twilight Camp for four years.
Daniel has been accepted into the
honors program at McMurry University in Abilene where he will
begin studies this fall. Troop 67 is very proud of Daniel's achievements -
Congratulations, Daniel!
