Andrew Blake Self, 18, is a senior
at North Mesquite High School, where he is a member of the
National Honor Society and an active member of the student
council, volunteering 15 hours per month. He became an Eagle
October 10, 2005. Andrew joined scouting in fourth grade as a
Webelo in Pack 93, advancing through the ranks to earn
Scouting's highest award. During his years in scouts, Andrew has
earned awards and participated in many activities, projects, and
fund raisers. Some of those include Scouting for Food, Scout
Show and Scout Show ticket sales, Buddy Poppy sales, and popcorn
sales.
His Eagle Service Project was completed at Samuell Farm where he
supervised a group of adult and scout volunteers in the
beautification and drainage correction of the flower beds at the
entrance of the farm. Andrew oversaw the cleanup, soil
preparation, and mulching of the beds, as well as the
construction of flowerbed walls. He also supervised the
placement of decorative rocks edging the beds.
As a new Boy Scout, Andrew was part of the first group of scouts
in Troop 67. During his time in the troop, he has held the
positions of Instructor, Troop Guide, Scribe, and three terms as
Patrol Leader. He staffed Cub Scout Twilight Camp as a volunteer
for two years. Andrew has attended three summer camps at Tom
Hale Scout Reserve in Oklahoma, and two winter camps at Camp
Cherokee near Athens.
He has been accepted and plans to attend Texas Christian
University in the fall. Troop 67 is very proud of Andrew's achievements -
