Adam joined scouting, as a Tiger
Cub, with Pack 855 in Mesquite, Texas. He earned the Bobcat,
Wolf, Bear and Webelos ranks, and the Arrow of Light Award. He
then joined Troop 67 to begin his adventures as a boy scout.
Since joining the Troop Adam has
held leadership positions of Scribe, Asst Patrol Leader,
Quartermaster, Patrol Leader, Librarian, Instructor, Venture
Vice President, Troop Guide, Asst Senior Patrol Leader, Jr.
Assistant Scoutmaster.
Adam has attended leadership
training, which includes: Troop Junior Leader Training, Oak Leaf
Skills, Golden Acorn and Golden Acorn Staff. He has also served
as senior staff at Golden Acorn. He has staffed summer camp at
Camp James Ray. He is certified in Red Cross CPR & First Aid.
Adam has attended five summer camps:
one at Camp Cherokee in Athens, Texas, and four at Hale Scout
Reservation in Oklahoma. He has attended three winter camps: two
at Camp Cherokee and a Cavalry adventure at Sid Richardson Scout
Ranch in Bridgeport, Texas.
Adam participated in a 93 mile
backpacking trip in the mountains of New Mexico at Philmont
Scout Ranch and has earned 36 merit badges.. Up to this point,
he has over 200 service hours with the troop and over 110 nights
camping. He has earned special awards, which include Scout of
the Month, BSA Scuba, BSA Kayaking, 50 Mile Hike and the Duty to
God Award at Philmont.
Adam was elected by his peers into
the Order of the Arrow, and is an active member of this scouting
service organization. He sealed his membership in the OA by
achieving his Brotherhood with the Ogequah Chapter of the
Mikanakawa Lodge.
For his Eagle Service project, Adam
directed over 23 volunteers in the construction of eight four
chamber bat houses that will accommodate approximately 500 bats
each. These bat houses were built at Northside Baptist Church
and are mounted at Purtis Creek State Park.
Adam is a junior at North Mesquite
High School where he is platoon commander in the Junior ROTC. He
is also a member of the ROTC Rifle Team and Orienteering Team.
Adam is also a member of the National Honor Society.
Adam achieved the rank of Eagle
Scout on August 14, 2006. but this does not end his scouting
career. He will continue to earn merit badges and work toward
Eagle Palms. Adam plans to remain active in the Troop, Venture
Crew, Order of the Arrow Lodge and any other scouting
opportunity that comes along!
